I first met and photographed these adorable twin girls back in August of 2006 when they were the flower girls in a wedding I covered. We went to the Arboretum in Lexington, which is still quite barren but beautiful none the less. In a month or two it will be a haven of flowers. I definitely recommend a visit if you have never been before.

I had a hard time narrowing down the images to edit and an even harder time narrowing down the images to post on the blog. They were just too much fun and to cute!

I had the best time taking photos of this beautiful little girl and her baby, Charlie! Unfortunately our plans of shooting outside were shot when the weather took a turn for the worse, nasty cold rain. But luckily we had a great location, Bakers Square, to shoot. Meilani is a six year old little girl who is so much fun and had her own idea's for photos (my favorite was the fabric over lamp). Who knew a girl her age could be so shabby chic!

This is my second photo session with the lovely Abigail. She is such a natural when it comes to poses. Plus, she has the most beautiful multicolored eyes, with hues of green and blue (check out the third photo below). We did a session at Locust Grove, which is such a fun site. Granted, nothing is blooming yet but I loved the dried flowers in the last few images.

Bonham!

Bonham, named after the notorious drummer from Led Zeppelin, was so unbelievably adorable! I recently did his Mommies maternity photos and it is a good thing we did them early because Bonham arrive several weeks before schedule.

I have several upcoming children portrait sessions I would like to post. I am trying to stay on top of it so that I don't have to group them all in one posting, but life sometimes just gets busy!

The Bee's Knees!

I take many candid shots of my little girl but I have never done a posed session. So when she came in the kitchen the other day wearing one of my photo prop hats and beads about her neck I knew that I must do a session of her in that hat!

She has always reminded me of a girl from the 20's or 30's with her round face and short curly bob hairstyle.

Meaghan's Bridals

I would have to say this way the most fascinating location I have had the opportunity to shoot bridals. An old, abandoned department store that is now being developed into loft condominiums. The layers of peeling paint, incredible staircase, beautiful textures, and of course the beautiful bride all made for an incredible session. The main problem was that there was no electricity and in parts of the building it was very dark. But it forced me to use the available light in a more creative fashion.

Sarah and Neil's Wedding!!!

Sarah and Neil were married at the Cathedral of the Assumption with a reception following at the beautiful Olmsted reception hall.

Sarah and Neil are High School sweethearts, he was the football player (still plays for Center) and she cheered for the team. They are an incredibly sweet couple and I feel so lucky to have worked with them on this amazing day.

I do have to admit, it was one of my most entertaining receptions. It was non stop dancing from the minute dinner was over and the cake was cut.

Allison and Luke's Wedding!!!

Allison and Luke were married December 27th and had a elegant holiday themed wedding in silver, black and white. My favorite accent were feathers. They dressed the tables as well as the bouquets. The day was beautiful, warmer then usual but the wind prevented us from doing too many outdoor shots.

I first had the opportunity to work with this amazing couple on their engagement photos this summer in Lexington. I knew based on Allison's taste that the wedding would be unbelievably beautiful, and it was.

This is baby L's second round of photos, the 3 month session. What a cutie! He was so easy, with the best smiles and best disposition. My favorite moment was the end when he just passed out in Mommy's arms. I miss those days with my little girl. Can't wait till the next session!

Yuko's Maternity

The amazing part of this shoot was that Yuko was 8 months pregnant in these photos, she had the perfect tiny, little belly. Luckily we were able to pull her little boy away from his buddy (my nephew) for a quick shot with mom which turned out really cute.

Can you believe these two cuties are cousins?! They look so much alike.

I went to Fort Knobs, Indiana to photography these handsome guys. The scenery outside was perfect, unfortunately the weather was not. The day before was blue skies and warm(er) weather and the next day it was cold, cold, cold and threatening snow. Can I just say that we have had the wackiest weather this year! Anyways, considering these little guys are under two we only had a few minutes before their noses were froze and we had to head in. But I worked quick and managed to get a couple outside. Thankfully the Mom's had great, fun hats to keep them warm.

Anna Grace

I had the best time photographing this adorable little girl. Such a little clown, Anna Grace kept me on my toes (thank goodness for fast focusing). What I love best about photographing children is that you never know what you are going to get. I come with ideas but most of the time I just feed off of their energy and try to capture their true personality.

We shot at the Olmstead in Louisville, where her parents were married. It is a great place to shoot because it has a mix of classic and rustic architecture (if you float around back or head to the train tracks.)

What a great family!

Jessica and Josh's Engagement Session

Slowly I am catching up on my blog, October and November were extremely busy months so it is taking me a while to get to everyone.

I am so excited about working with this couple. We shot the engagements at the farm where they will be married this spring, Jessica's family farm. It has endless photo opportunities, and luckily I get to also shoot Jessica's bridals there as well. I can't wait!

From log cabins, rustic barns, a beautiful home, gorgeous backdrops of KY landscapes, and even a tire swing, how can you go wrong.

I thought it would be fun to set up a little tea set since we were shooting at the garden at Henry Clay's home in Lexington. It reminded me of a scene from the Secret Garden, a favorite when I was younger.

Dawn and David's Wedding!!!

Dawn and David were married at the Valley View Church here in Louisville on a brisk cold fall day. Luckily they were both willing to take a few quick shots outside, especially considering Dawn was wearing a gorgeous sleeveless dress.

Dawn looked absolutely stunning, and she wore my favorite wedding accessory, the bird cage veil. I never get tired of being witness to such love, the way they looked at each other was so real and passionate. It is so great to be able to capture those looks and emotions.

Oh, and did I mention the cute kids! They make my job easier and so much fun.

Janet and Andrew, Engagement Photos

I did Janet and Andrew's Engagement session at Henry Clay's Home in Lexington awhile back (yes I am very behind on posting!). Anyways, it was great because it allowed me to get both the urban feel with the brick and also a more traditional touch with the gorgeous grounds. Unfortunately the garden was closed, but it was worth the sacrifice with the great light we had that time of day.

I cannot wait till their wedding in May, it will be in Savannah, GA.

Willow and John Henry

Willow became a big sister this summer to her adorable little brother, John Henry. She accompanied him to his newborn shoot, which made for some great shots.

Mollie and Mike's Wedding!!!

Mollie and Mike were married mid-October at the Bell House in Lexington. The Ceremony was held at Mollie's family church, 2nd Presbyterian Church, right down the street. Because of the closeness between the two locations they decided to walk from the Church to the Bell House with the bridal party. It was a bit chilly, especially for a bride in a sleeveless dress, but it made for some fun shots.

What a wonderful couple, it was so great to work with the two of them and their family's!

Jackie and Ryan's Wedding!!!

Jackie and Ryan had such a beautiful wedding on a perfect Fall day. They were willing to see each other beforehand for pictures so we were able to get a lot of different shots around the country club, Big Spring, where there reception was to be held later in the evening.

We did a first look approach, Ryan waited in anticipation and a bit nervousness with his back turned as Jackie approached him from behind. This is a great way for the couple to see each other for the first time because it still allows them to have that moment of the bride walking down the isle towards her groom. Plus it makes for great shots, real moments!

Emily and Zach's Wedding!!!

It is only fitting to post these images on Churchill Downs opening day. We just returned a few hours ago, unfortunately my husband and I are both really unlucky when it comes to the track. I choose by the best name, maybe not the best strategy. But my Bother-in-law and Sister-in-Law, visiting from Denver,did pretty well!

Emily and Zach lucky enough to get married in the Winner's Circle at the famous Churchill Downs a few weeks back.

What an amazing day! Emily looked fabulous in her unique flower headpiece that added to her absolutely gorgeous dress that she wore that day.

I had such a great time creating portraits around the abandoned grounds. Emily was game for anything which makes my job so much fun.

They headed off to a pretty unusual honeymoon, South Africa. That is my idea of a great trip!

Stephanie and Robert's Wedding!!!

Stephanie and Robert were married at the Bell House, the same place I was married 5 years ago last week. It was a lot of fun going back, especially observing from a new perspective, as the photographer. And to top it off, one of my brother's old band members was the officiant for the ceremony.

Stephanie is incredibly sweet and Robert is hilarious, they are such a wonderful couple. It was so great being with them on their wedding day.

Kerry and Ryan's Wedding!!!

I was so excited to travel back to Colorado to shoot Kerry and Ryan's wedding. My last wedding in Colorado was with Kerry's Maid of Honor, Katie, who was married in Winter Park a few days before we moved to Kentucky. She is featured in the top bar above, walking away from the camera with the barn to the left.

Kerry and Ryan were married in one of the most breathtaking towns in the area, the popular ski town, Vail. There was a brief rain shower but cleared in time for the ceremony. In my opinion it was a perfect day with an incredible couple.

Erin and Cullen's Wedding!!!

Erin and Cullen were married at Louisville's Henry Clay. An amazing building that was recently restored to its original beauty.

After working with them both for their engagement photos, I just knew they were a fantastic couple and the wedding would be wonderful.

I was absolutely in love with Erin's dress. It was an off white with a vintage flare. It looked AMAZING on her as well. I cannot wait till our bridal session!

Amber and Matt's Wedding!!!

Amber and Matt were married in Tell City, Indiana. I shot the rehearsal and a mini engagement session the day before, so I was able to stay overnight and explore a bit of this cute town. I love small town USA, the main street was as cute as could be with quite a few really interesting shops. Not to mention the great antiques.

The wedding was so beautiful and after a few portraits the bridal party took off in a converted school bus for a bar hop on the way to the reception. The did two quick stops at the local pubs. It was a fun transition to start the party.

The reception hall was decorated by one of Amber's cousin's who creates displays at Arhaus here in Louisville. He did an amazing job, he completely transformed the space. And his use of color was brilliant.

Jessica and Justin's Wedding!!!

Jessica and Justin were married in Floyd Knobs, Indiana in a beautiful Catholic Church. The day was perfect, beautiful blue sky's which seem to be prevalent this year.

They were both so much fun. Jessica is a school teacher and her kids must have a blast with her because she is so full of energy. She really got the reception going.

They were engagement in Gatlinburg, TN so for favors they brought in the infamous salt water taffy for guests. There is a photo below of the different flavors, including Jessica's favorite, Sassafrass.

Allison and Luke's Engagement Session

I don't always share engagement sessions, I just get too busy during wedding season but I am going to try and get better at blogging.

I am so excited to share these images. I had the best time with Allison and Luke. They were up for anything and are just a great couple.

We first shot at the UK Botanical Garden in Lexington, which is quite amazing. I hadn't been back since High School, back when it was just developing and I was a little nervous about the suggestion. But they have done such a spectacular job with the area, definitely a photographers paradise. Despite the extreme heat, it was perfect.

Next we headed downtown and stopped by the notorious triangle park. Followed by Victorian Square and the Opera House.

Rosie was born on June 7th, 2008. She is such a sweet , adorable little girl. Rosie has the biggest, bluest eyes. So Sweet! We did all the pictures at their home, which made for a much more comfortable atmosphere.

Shelli and Don were married on the beautiful floating reception hall, Spirit of the Jefferson, on the River on 6/7/08. They are such an amazing couple and I feel so honored to have shot their wedding.

Shelli got ready at her home in the lovely Cherokee Park area. I had to include a few shots of her animals, they were so cute. Especially her miniature pinscher, I love those dogs they have the attitude of a 120 lb dog in a 5 lb body, hilarious.

Leigh and Eric's Wedding!!!

Leigh and Eric were married in Depauw, Indiana a few weeks back. The wedding was in a small country church on a beautiful bright sunny day. Before heading to the reception we stopped in downtown Cordon, IN for a few shots. I will have to go back when I can stroll around, it is a really cute town.

The reception followed at Leigh's Uncles Farm, in a decorated barn that transformed into a high end reception hall. They really out did themselves, it was unbelievable gorgeous.

Xavier and Isaiah

I was able to photograph two of the cutest, sweetest little boys. I was worn out by the end of the shoot, they were non stop. But so much fun. I love photographing kids, it is actually what got me into photography in the first place.

We took the pictures at their Grandparents farm which is a wooded paradise for children. I would love to have property like this someday. They even had a small pond where the boys pretended to fish, all candid moments which I was honored to capture.

Appalachian Trail

I am so excited to share the CD cover of Blind Corn Liquor Picker's new album that will be released this Saturday at Al's Bar in Lexington. I was able to hear an early release and you won't be disappointed. It is absolutely amazing!!!

This is the second album cover that I have made for the BCLP and I love that they really allow me to use my creativity and make it surreal.

This is the back of the CD, dedicated to Donald Bowling who passed away unnoticed on a park bench at Woodland Park while the band played during a festival. Park Bench is probably my favorite song on the album, Beth, the lead singer, did an outstanding job.

Sarah and Chris's Wedding!!!

It's that time of year again and I am already behind on posting.

Sarah and Chris were married in Somerset on May 17th. The wedding was followed by an outdoor reception in the country. The reception was a blast, it is quite apparent that Chris loves to dance and in the bright sunlight he had the place hoppin'. And the amount of cute kids at the wedding was unreal, I could only post a handful of shots or it would be a mile long.

I was able to shoot with my talented assistant and sister-in-law, Koto Young. A few of her shots are below and are amazing!!!

Erika and Scott's Wedding!!!

Erika and Scott were married in Richmond KY a couple of weeks ago on a beautiful spring day. The Reception was held at Arlington in the turn of the century Mansion.

I had the opportunity to shoot Bridals for Erika before the wedding, I had so much fun. She was up for anything which allowed us to get so amazing shots. We even had her on the back of a firetruck.

One of the most tender moments was when Erika's Godmother put her late mother's necklace around her neck. I am so happy that I was able to capture that for her.

The Reception was more fun then I could have imagined. Singing, dancing-people formed trains that weaved throughout the rooms, it was a blast! The best part was when Erika joined the band and sang Tina Turner's version of "Rollin on the River". It was priceless!

Meaghan and Warren's Wedding!!!

Meaghan and Warren were married at the stunningly beautiful Cathedral of the Assumption downtown Louisville. The ceremony was followed by a reception at the infamous Glassworks then after party at the hip restaurant Nios.

It was an amazing day and Meaghan looked fabulous, especially in the 2nd dress she wore to Nios. I absolutely adored the deco feathered hat, it was just so her.

I was so lucky to work with not only a great couple but their amazing family and friends.

My Favorite Model

I am so thrilled to finally get into my new studio to fire off a few shots. My little girl Ria Day is the perfect model. Okay so she is not the easiest to work with due to the fact she is one years old and the last thing she wants to do is be still, but to me the cutest and well worth it!

I will share photos of the studio once I get moved in and set up, in the meantime here is the first shot in the new space!

Lindsey and Jason's Engagement!!!

I was honored to shoot Lindsey and Jason's engagement photo's in my old hometown of Lexington. It was a beautiful day, absolutely perfect weather. I am so happy that Spring has arrived!

Lindsey and Jason are an amazing couple, so easy to talk with. And it is obvious how they feel about each other by the way they look at each other and interact. They make my job easy!

The will be married in Pineville, KY this coming June, I can't wait!

Valerie and Ryan's Wedding!!!

Valerie and Ryan met in Okinawa, Japan while Valerie was visiting a friend on base. Ryan, a proud member of our Armed Forces, was introduced to Valerie and it goes from there. Just the short time that I was able to spend with Valerie and Ryan, it is no surprise that the fell for each other. They both have incredible spirits and were so wonderful to work with.

The ceremony took place at the Crestwood United Methodist Church and the reception followed at the Louisville Water Tower.

This next shot was one of those happy accidents. I had thought it would be interesting to take a shot of the dress through these old painted windows (I just love the clash between elegant and rustic) when I reached the other side the reflection was the American Flag, it couldn't have been more perfect.

It is always such an intimate, emotional moment when the bride gets into her dress and I believe these next two shots really captured that feeling.

I am impressed, Ryan tied his own Bow Tie, I see guys struggle with a regular tie.

Kiersten and Mike's Wedding!!!

Kiersten and Mike were married at the beautiful Christ Church Cathedral downtown Louisville. This was my first time at this church and I was blown away with it's beauty. The Reception followed at the infamous Glassworks building.

Kiersten's dress, a two piece dress featuring a 10ft train, was made by a friend of hers that does fashion design in Florida. It was stunning!

Chandre and Jimmy's Wedding!!!

Chandre and Jimmy were Married in Winchester, KY. They got ready at her parents home, a really beautiful turn of the century (maybe late 1800's) home in Mt. Sterling. They rode to the church in a surprise gift from her father, a hot pink limo! The reception followed at the Winchester Opera House.

Chandre's dress was so stunning. Her mother made the dress, the fine detail was out of this world. I can't even imagine the hours it took to make it. It was an absolute work of art. You must check out the handiwork.

Deanna and Erics Wedding!!!

Deanna and Eric were Married on the first day of Fall (does this give you any idea of how behind I am on posting!). It was an incredibly hot but absolutely beautiful day. The Ceremony, at her families home, was held in the shade of a weeping willow, overlooking a beautiful body of water. The Reception followed outside under a setting sun, it was a perfect.

Meghan and Dustin were married at the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum in St James Court. The Ceremony was held on the front lawn in front of the spectacular historic architecture. The reception, with an Asian Theme, followed in the basement. It was a great evening and I am so happy to have worked with such a great couple.

AGWPJA WIN!!!

I am honored to say that I won 6th place in the ring detail category with the Artistic Guild Wedding Photojournalist Association. This is my first photography contest that I have entered and was quite ecstatic that I placed within the top ten. The WPJA is an international organization that I am proud to have joined in November for photo journalistic wedding photographers, the AGWPJA is an extension of that group.

Jessica and Reid's Wedding!!!

So yet again I am way behind on posting. The end of the season becomes a little overwhelming.

Jessica and Reid were a great couple to work with, so easy going. And don't forget their great shoe choice. Reid and all his guys wore black chucks and Jessica wore the cutest hot pink shoes that looked fabulous with her dress. And speaking of the dress it was perfect for her, she looked like a princess.

They were married at My Old Kentucky Home in Bardstown on an unbelievably gorgeous day. The weather was absolutely perfect. The last time I had visited MOKH was probably in elementary school on a field trip. I was blown away with how pretty the grounds were. We couldn't take pictures in the actual house but there were plenty of picturesque spots elsewhere.

I also was able to do a bridal session with Jessica after the wedding. It was so much fun, we went downtown Louisville and took advantage of the great, colorful buildings.

Trick or Treat?!?!

We took our daughter out with her two cousins last night for Trick or Treating. Okay so she is too young for candy but it was fun getting her dressed up and watching my nephew going door to door. At first he was a little hesitant but it didn't take long for him to figure out the power of those three words which = free candy!!!!

Mackenzie and Jeremy's Wedding!!!

I have been a little behind on posting, but I am happy to share with everyone some images from Jeremy and Mackenzie's wedding.

I first worked with Jeremy and Mackenzie last spring when I shot their engagement pictures. There has been a recurring theme, school. I got to shoot both of them on their engagement shoot in a school bus and then on their wedding day we took some portrait shots in a small one room school house across the street from the church in Indiana.

Their reception was at the Grand in New Albany, a fabulous venue. They actually used some of the engagement pictures as move posters outside, too cool!

Little Maggie!!!!!!

I am so excited to share with everyone the birth of my Niece, Maggie Ann. I was so lucky to be there the day she was born, she came just before I had to leave for a wedding, absolutely perfect timing.

I was actually on my way out after the doctor said that it would be at least another hour. I packed up my gear and headed out, a little disappointed but I knew I would be able to be back the next day. As soon as I left the hospital room the nurses were headed in with stats in their hands saying that I would only miss it by a few minutes, so I decided to stay.

Five minutes later little Maggie entered the world. I was so happy to be able to be there that day and share in everyone's excitement. Plus being able to witness (and document) my Nephew meeting his sister for the first time was pretty amazing.

Lindsey and Lance's Wedding!!!

Lindsey and Lance we married in Sonora, KY on September 1st. I had the opportunity to meet Lindsey when she was up planning the wedding from Atlanta, where she currently resides.

Sonora is such a small, cute, quite town-decorated with antique shops and a railroad track running along the main road (which of course we had to take advantage of. I just love that small town mentality, everyone smiles and everyone waves as you walk or drive past.

Lindsey's dress was such very unique color, a goldish antique color that looked fabulous on her. Both Lindsey and Lance were so much fun to work with, they were up for whatever wacky ideas I through at them.

Urban VS Rural-Deanna and Eric's Engagement Shoot

I recently shot engagement photo's for Deanna and Eric in "urban" downtown LaGrange then followed up with some shots on the farm with Deanna's horse. I loved that they did two different locations with outfit changes to match the atmosphere. There wedding is actually this next weekend, can't wait! Deanna is starting out in wedding photography and has a background shooting horses, here is a link to her website. Check out the portfolio folder, she has so many beautiful shots.

I had such a great time and was really impressed with the amount of great backdrops we had in the one block downtown on Main Street in LaGrange, very cute town!

Carrie and Adam's Wedding!!!

Carrie and Adam got married in Greenville, KY in the extreme heat of August. Despite the sweltering sun, we were able to get a few shots outside but mostly stuck to the air conditioning.

Carrie and Adam are both such wonderful people. Carrie is so sweet and kind. And Adam is the kind of guy who instantly makes you feel good and keeps you laughing. Adam actually works at my old High School, Henry Clay in Lexington (Go Big Blue!).

I am trying to keep my favorites scaled down, but I don't know that I did such a good job. Enjoy!

I have been blog tagged by Angela Anderson basically the idea is to share 8 facts about yourself so I will give it a try, although I doubt I can top Angela's!

1. I am fearful (maybe to strong a word) of the time 11:11. Repeatedly, may times daily, in high school I would to glance up at the clock twice a day at 11:11 and it began to freak me out. I used to think it was a curse that something bad would happen on that day. I once bought a magazine at the airport and my change was 11.11 and I was hesitant to fly. When my baby was born at 11:07 a.m. you could say I was a little relieved. It is so silly but even to this day I feel a little odd when I see that time or those numbers together.

2. My first Pets were cats named Bo and Luke (yes, after the famous Hazard boys) but don't blame me, I believe that was my Brother's idea. But I did much worse when I named a cat we had Budweiser, after a visit to a Reds game in Elementary School. Through the years I have had a Bo, Luke, Pitty Pat, Budweiser, Ms. T, Margo, Tigger, Oscar, Simon, Tally, India, Kiara and Dakota. All cats accept the last two which are my crazy dogs.

3. On the line of pets, my first year of college I co-owned a baby ball python. I used to wear it around my neck as an accessory. Her name was Monty (original huh?!?) and she used to arch her back when you pet her then would curl her tail as you approached the end of her body. She died of a rare bone disease a couple months after we had bought her. I must have been crazy because I don't think I could even touch one now.

4. Here I am at 12:31 am typing this post because time is very limited these days. With wedding season still holding strong and a 6 month old baby girl, I have very little time to myself. That said I think I am going to head of to bed so I can get a few hours of sleep in before my 6 am wake up call. I'll finish the last 4 tomorrow.

5. A new day-Speaking of my little girl, I had my first child February 12th of this year. Her name is Ria Day, named after her Great Oma (her daddy's dutch grandmother). The Day was just to jazz it up a bit.

6. I LOVE to travel but I wish I could say that I have done more of it. I will be going to Hawaii for the first time this Winter. And aside from US travel I have been to Ireland, Japan, Holland, France, Canada, Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago.

7. I grew up in Georgetown then Lexington, KY. After high school I went to school out west in Bozeman, MT. Living in California and Colorado before deciding to move back to Kentucky 10 years later.

8. I always swore as a fine art major that I would never be a wedding photographer, that was before I realized that the days of stiff line up poses and cookie cutter images were coming to an end. Now wedding photographers are encouraged to be artistic, I LOVE my job!!!

Kate and Adrian's Wedding!!!

I first had the opportunity to work with Kate and Adrian back in the fall of 2006 when I shot their engagement pictures at Locust Grove. I had such an incredible time and I knew that it would be no different at their wedding.

The ceremony was held at St. Francis in Prospect, an absolutely breathtaking building with beautiful grounds. The reception following was held at the Olmstead on Frankfort Ave. We were able to take advantage of the train tracks for a few quick shots before they entered the celebration.

These flowers by In Bloom Again were amazing!!! The arrangements were some of the prettiest I have seen, the colors were so vibrant!
